![]() Nebraska Machinery NMC was founded in 1938 by J.J. (Joe) Swanson, a highway engineer for the Wyoming Department of Transportation and W.A. Norris, a Wyoming contractor. The company's first facility was located on West Front Street in North Platte, Nebraska. A second facility was opened in Scottsbluff in 1941. In 1948 following a very successful partnership, Joe Swanson bought the company from Norris. In 1953 Joe's son, Jerry Swanson, joined the company and served in a number of positions before becoming president in 1984. In 1991 Joe's second son, Duane Swanson, was appointed president and currently serves on the company's board of directors. Today, Jerry Swanson's two sons are the third generation of family at NMC.
